Back to the unique science set (USS)

The Collection of Microorganisms was initiated in the VIZh in 1956. Its list of microorganisms has been steadily increasing for many years due to the bacterial strains isolated during the research surveys of the Microbiology Laboratory team. The collection of microorganisms is constantly being renewed to maintain and keep it vital and accessible.

Composition of Collection of Microorganisms

The Collection consists of the reference bacterial strains acquired from the All-Russia National Collections, such as: State Research Center for Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Federal Budgetary Institution of Science (FBUN GNTsPMB); “Taracevich GISK” Scientific Center for expertise of Means of Medical Application, Federal State Budgetary Institution (FGBU NTsESMP), Ministry of Healthcare of Russia; and “GosNIIgenetics” National Bioresource Center for All-Russia Collection of Industrial Microorganisms, Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FGUP NBTs VKPM), Ministry of Education and Science of Russia (State Research Institute of Genetics and Selection of Industrial Microorganisms (GosNIIgenetics)).

Directions for use of strains of Microorganisms as a part of the Collection

  1. Defining the growth and selective characteristics of nutrient media.
  2. Research into the mechanisms of action of probiotics.
  3. Study of non-specific resistance of the animal organism.
  4. Isolation of the new microorganism strains and their characteristics.
  5. Study of microflora of the animal gastrointestinal tract.
  6. Assessment of microbial risk by the main microbiological charateristics for the food, parfume, skincare, and pharmaceutical products, the feeds and additives, and the farm animal sperm.

The reference bacterial strains may be provided within the research survey. The applicant should make an application on the form of the institution-applicant. The sign of the head and the seal of the institution must certify the application. A copy of a licence for the right to work with the pathogenic biological agents should be attached to the application.
